Middle Schoolers Join Gowanus by Design Competition

Led by teacher Vicki Madden, students from Carroll Garden's local Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies, MS 448, are using the Gowanus Lowline international design competition to learn about urban planning and how to design healthy and sustainable neighborhoods.

Gowanus by Design and the GCDCC will include the best projects from four seventh grade classes in the final competition exhibition and on the competition web site. Also members of Gowanus by Design and GCDCC are joining teachers, parents and the Center for Urban Pedagogy is leading workshops and "design crits" in the classroom.
